Faced with an erosion of its income, the Dashang Group decided in 2017 to modernize the image of its historic center in Dalian and entrusted New Ground with this work.
The complex includes shopping malls, department stores, offices and a hotel, built over the years in disparate styles. All these buildings are connected by a vast network of pedestrian streets.
New Ground's work began with an in-depth analysis of existing conditions and similar shopping mall modernization projects.

It appeared quickly that Malls worldwide were facing the same problem and that new facades and landscape won’t be enough to address it.
A global strategy was then put in place including the creation of a global concept of landscape, a new modern image with the transformation of all the facades, transformation of current access and creation of a new atrium, transformation of some buildings to increase the F&B offer, ...
In addition to architecture and landscape, New Ground has developed an app. that allows customers to find their way around this huge complex with Bluetooth beacons through the stores.

Works of art are placed along the streets and partnerships with the Liaoning Province Art Schools will allow students to exhibit their work along the streets and inside the Buildings.
All these transformations totally change the image that Dashang offers. It’s a total uplift of the brand. Everything is now very colorful, very cheerful and dynamic.
The project pushes Dashang into a new age, younger, modern and equips the group to face the competition of the internet.
许多代表各种鱼类的艺术装置沿街而立，它们中的有些被设置成可供孩子攀爬和玩耍的高度。强烈的现代感和令人印象深刻的特殊风格无处不通过建筑外墙体现出来。
